a city enriched with glamour of the past and the present. You will
visit Amman's downtown market and city center, its traditional souks,
coffee shops, restaurants selling local food and sweets, churches,
mosques; amongst other popular places.
Amman is also the ancient city of
Philadelphia with its Roman theatre and the Citadel (entrance fees to
the Roman theatre and the Citadel not included). You will pass by the
Late King Hussein Palace, where he is buried, then drive to the other
side of the city, a wealthy area with pubs, international restaurants
and discotheques.
Following this, depart to the north to
visit Jerash, the most complete and well preserved city of the Roman
Empire. Jerash is one of the Decapolis cities of the north of Jordan.
During the Roman Empire it was often called "Pompeii of the East". You
will visit the colonnaded streets, theatres, oval plaza, Temple of
Zeus, markets and villages. Return to your hotel in Amman, dinner and
overnight (see hotel list for hotel details). |
