Day by day tour itinerary

Day 1 : Upon your arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, you will be met and assisted by your English speaking driver and transferred to the hotel in Amman for overnight.

Day 2 : After breakfast depart for the Shaumari Reserve. Created as a breeding center for endangered or locally extinct wildlife, the Shaumari Reserve is home to some of the rarest species of animals in the Middle East. In this small 22 Km2 reserve, you can often see the Arabian Oryx roaming freely in the desert grassland. Ostriches, Gazelles, and Onagers can also be observed in their enclosures. Shaumari's breeding enclosures provide a small "zoo" for visitors, making the reserve a popular spot for children and school outings. These animals are rebuilding their populations in this safe haven, protected from the hunting and habitat destruction that nearly wiped them out. Afterwards, go to Azraq, a wetland preserve, for bird watching. Overnight in Amman.

Day 3 : After breakfast your first stop of the day will be at Mount Nebo. Atop the mountain, you will have a spectacular view, as did Moses, of the Jordan River Valley and the Holy Land below. There is a monument to Moses marking his burial place and a church with an exceptional collection of ancient mosaics. Continue to Madaba to see another well-known mosaic map of the Middle East in the floor of the Church of St. George. From here continue to the Dana Reserve via Kings Highway en route visiting Karak, a crusader fortress, arriving at Dana for dinner and overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4 : After breakfast the you will have a walk with naturalist guide in Dana. The Dana Reserve is composed of mountains and wadis, extending from the top of the eastern Rift Valley to desert lowlands of Wadi Araba, an elevation drop of over 5200 feet. It embraces two major biogeographical zones and four distinct vegetation zones. This condensed variety of landforms and habitats, combined with dramatic changes in elevation, result in vast biological diversity. Return to the guesthouse for overnight.

Day 5 : After breakfast depart for Petra where you will have a guided tour of the site. The ancient city of Petra was originally inhabited by the Nabateans, who developed the canyon into an impenetrable city. The main approach is through a narrow cut in the rock, or siq. As it winds along you can see the remnants of drainage channels, rock carvings, and the unique striping of the rock itself. As you round the last bend, the most famous of all structures in Petra suddenly appears before you. The Treasury, like most of the other buildings in Petra, have been carved out of the cliff walls. After your guided tour, the rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Petra.

Day 6 : Today you will have a free day in Petra. Explore the site some more or visit the village of Wadi Moussa. Overnight in Petra.

Day 7 : After breakfast depart for Wadi Rum where you will take a tour by 4x4 Jeep. With its "moonscape" of ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Climbers are especially attracted to Wadi Rum because of its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, while hikers enjoy its vast empty spaces. Wadi Rum is probably best known because of its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18. Much of David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in Wadi Rum. After exploring the wadi, you will be taken to the camp site for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 : This morning you will be taken to the Red Sea city of Aqaba. Here you will have the rest of the day to enjoy the beach, go snorkeling, scuba dive, or just relax. Overnight in Aqaba.

Day 9 : This morning will be at your leisure to enjoy this seaside resort city. Take advantage of all the water sports available or shop in the market. In the afternoon depart for Amman for dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Amman.

Day 10 : After breakfast you will transfer to the airport for your departure.
