Hiking tour in Syria, 8 days/7 nights, rates starts at 785 US $

Syria offers excellent hiking in the Anti-Lebanon Mountains, the Syrian Coastal Mountains, and the Belus Massif, northwest of Aleppo.

The hiking terrain ranges from canyons and rocky areas to forests, and often includes sites of archaeological importance, such as the forgotten Roman temple of Hosn Suleiman and the Byzantine ruins at Mt. Yunis.

Half day to 8-day tours available. Simple accommodations in hotels or camping in tents.

Day 1:

Arrive Damascus International Airport. Meet & Assist, transfer to hotel.

Day 2:

Full day tour of Damascus, visiting the National Museum, the Tekkieye Mosque, the Hamidiye Souq, Umayyad Mosque, Azem Palace, Saladin's Mausoleum and the Christian quarters of Bab Touma and Bab Sharqi, with the St. Ananias Chapel and St. Paul's Window. Early evening transfer via Nabek to Deir Mar Musa. Thirty minutes trek to reach the monastery. Overnight in Deir Mar Musa.

Day 3:

Departure to Krak des Chevaliers (the Crusader’s Castle), one of the most impressive and well-preserved castles in the Middle East. Visit Krak des Chevaliers. Then continue via Safita to the forgotten Hosn Suleiman Temple. Visit this remarkable Roman temple and hike in the surrounding area. Located in a narrow valley, the temple will be that night, campsite.

Day 4:

Transfer via Apamea to Syria's second largest city, Aleppo. In the afternoon visit Aleppo National Museum and then relax in the traditioanl Oriental baths of Hammam Yalbogha. Overnight in Aleppo.

Day 5:

Discover Aleppo Citadel overlooking the city and stroll through the labyrinth of covered Souqs and Khans. In the afternoon transfer to St. Simeon Monastery where St. Simeon, in a remarkable act of faith, pursued a life of solitude and meditation upon a pillar. Camp in the ruins of Refade Monastery.

Day 6:

Transfer to Hama to visit the famous water wheels used for irrigation in the fertile Orontes Valley. Drive through the Syrian Desert to Palmyra. Overnight in Palmyra.

Day 7:

Full day visit of Palmyra: the Temple of Bel, the Theatre, the Colonnaded Streets, and the Necropolis. Return to Damascus. Overnight in Damascus.

Day 8:

Transfer to Damascus International airport.
